Diary of a SAFFA Dog – Wednesday 7th August

As expected Tuesday was an almost middle of the night start, it was dark and cold when the sound of frantic barking rang out, it scared Bella out of her cosy bed, she said later she thought we were being invaded by a pack of rabid dogs.  Why, oh why I ask, does the woman have that as an alarm call??

It was a quiet day as Mother was out having “The Procedure”, so we dozed until her return at around 2pm.  The expected outing never materialised, we all thought that was pretty pathetic, especially as she had been “resting” most of the day!

During the course of Wednesday afternoon I was listening to our Mayor Tom Tate saying that The Goldie was one of “the most safest cities in the world” and “crime is a lot less worse than ten years ago”.  Whilst I admired his sentiments, I do not admire his use of the English language. Really Mr Tate you will make the world think we are a lot of illiterate morons here on the Coast.

The dog park was busy this afternoon, several newbies were there including  very nice young fellow called Russell. He is a bull mastiff and a very playful chap.  He listened to my advice regarding interacting with the senior members of the park and was quite respectful overall.  Barney spent a large part of the outing in “time out” mode as he simply refuses to stop hassling all the puppies.  The chat in the park is that he is a bit of a bully. I have warned him of the dangers of becoming unpopular with the park “clique” but as always he thinks he knows best and ignores everything I say.

Mother is off out to yet another social event this evening, so we will all be off early to bed.  Barney says we should stay awake and guard the house, but I have told him that Bella is so much better at it than we are and should be allowed to get on with guard duties without interference from him. It is very hard keeping these youngsters in line, I am sure I was not so difficult when I was young.  Oh well….sleep beckons.

Night All!
