Diary of a SAFFA Dog – Rise & Shine & Start the Week

G’day…..

We were rudely awakened well before dawn by frenzied barking from the Doodle girl.  She was told in no uncertain terms to ‘shut up and go back to sleep’.  Being from Joeys, I felt no sympathy for her behaviour.  I explained to her that Possums fighting outside the bedroom window do not constitute a threat and most certainly do not require a loud response in the middle of the night.  She responded, somewhat snippishly’ that at least someone was alert for possible danger during the hours of darkness.  I told her she would live a long and happy life if all she ever had to worry about was a Possum fight!

We edged slowly into the morning. Monday is always an idle day in our house after the extreme socialising that takes place most weekends.  We lay in bed watching Morning TV and learned much to our suprise that many of our fellow Australians cook their evening meal in the dishwasher.

Mother said that even for Australia that is a pretty odd thing to do.  She intends to give it a go though, saying it could form an integral part of our new economy drive.  I told Piper, her mom will not be safe from this exercise, as veggies seem to be the most successful thing to be cooked together with the dirty dishes.

The promised spring weather has not yet arrived, we have huddled together all day to try and keep warm.  As Mother was out in the evening we all retired early.  We became immovable objects once again on the new bedding, which I might add is not so pristine any more.  Bella suggested to Mother than she might wash it, as we are particularly fond of a fresh bed.  Mother responded by saying we would have to get out of it first, unless we all fancied going around in the washing machine with the sheets.  Mmmm…I am seeing a theme here…..we exited the bed in quick order none of us wishing to be the one to head up a possible washing machine experiment.

We were all in big trouble when Mother discovered that someone had pooped on her artificial lawn.  Bella and I waited to see what punishment would be inflicted before deciding to drop the culprit into said poo.  Luckily for all us Piper’s mom chose that moment to arrive for coffee and the indiscretion was forgotten.  Barney said he has never been issued instructions about different types of lawn, as far as he is aware grass is grass.  The young today!

The park has been very quiet so far this week.  Barney has a new friend, someone who is louder than him, if you can believe it.  She is a very macho girl called Amity.  She is bigger than Barney and wears a very thick, heavily studded bright pink collar!  The pair of them race around the park terrorising any puppy that is silly enough to get in their way.  At this rate they will both be banned before the week is out!

Chat later in the week………
